Irish Potato

It is the time of year to make (and eat)…Irish potatoes!

For those who ask: what is an Irish potato?

Short answer – a candy.

Expanded answer – as they are neither Irish, nor potatoes, the origin of the name is a bit of a mystery.

There are numerous theories floating around the internet as to the provenance of this confection.

One of them places the origin of these in Philadelphia – we find this one to be the most plausible; cream cheese is an important ingredient in these little gems.

They do look like little potatoes when finished.

Come and try some!
